One of these days map/distance/travel time inconsistency is going to DRIVE ME NUTS.

Anyway, HUGE IMAGES AHOY.

ELIBE

Photobucket

I've collected about 3-4 maps of Elibe, all of which are different. -_- Above is my attempt at consolidating all the different versions + some of my own worldbuilding, using my most detailed canon map as a base. (Can't recall where the original map is from, but pretty sure it's one of the official maps out there...) Ragna and Olst are from Hasha no Tsurugi (whose maps have the shittiest proportions...) And the dot for Laus is hard to see, but it's right there by the river, which matches up with the in-game fields.

If I'm misidentifying some of those unlabeled dots based on in-game travels, do let me know.

That said, my standard for calculating distances is Khathelet -> Caelin takes ten days on horse according to Sain in Chapter Seven. Of course, that's not as the crow flies, and one should probably take into account that not all of the party is mounted... but it works as a rough gauge for most of my timing calculations.

Implications:

- the journey from Pherae to Ostia is roughly 3-4 months (being generous with the eyeballing). strictly speaking, it could even be up to half a year's one-way journey. (my bad, brain fart moment. 3-4 months works out pretty well. That should teach me not to recalculate things until my brain's spinning) which makes it at least a little bit odd that people were panicking after Lord Elbert had been absent for only a month, unless there were extenuating factors.

- FE6 should have taken at the very least three if not four years from the start of Roy's journey, despite the rate of character development (apparent lack of aging, certain supports) indicating otherwise...

- About two monthsA little over a month between Aquileia and Ostia (i.e. Cecilia was putting her own plans into motion far earlier than she lets on to Roy, likely with Percival's knowledge/help.)

Among other things... Meaning that at some point I may very well decide that I'm obsessive enough about these details to go back through and make some significant changes to the fic-verse. Which could lead to some interesting results, not the least of which is 19-year-old Roy by endgame! Oh well for now though. (So far I've just been fudging and assuming map distances are inaccurate. :P Script canon trumps visual canon for me... except when it suits me.)

CAELIN

UH OBVIOUSLY THIS WAS A LOT OF GUESSWORK. And close to driving me nuts because of those. stupid. rivers. I really need to replay the game also to confirm some of the travel paths. The script helps, but visual evidence is better in this case. (If anyone happens to be on a replay and can make corrections/suggestions, it would be MUCH appreciated.)

The "heartlands" are worldbuilding and will show up elsewhere, and that's all I will say about that for now.

ARAPHEN

Photobucket

Araphen looks different to the point where I need to replay the games to check it is in fact the same castle. (Should be though.)

LAUS

Photobucket

Laus gets a side by side because the proportions don't match up, and what changes there are, are pretty funny to note.

This post to be added to if I ever decide to look through/piece together more of the battle maps. Ah Seisen of the huge maps that made sense, how I miss you... Part II located here.

(eta: Battle map images snagged from RPG Classics and Serenes Forest.)
